Topic: Great Poet Shakespeare
Reading Text: A reading text about a poet
Language Focus: Reading Comprehension
  1. Specific Objectives:
- To tell some background information about the poet.
- To answer the text-based questions.
  1. Teaching Materials:
- Usual classroom materials, flash cards and picture cards.
  1. Tasks/Activities:
·         Pre-reading stage
Teacher sets and directs the following task for the students.
a.      Whole-class discussion:
-          Teacher provides the background information about the poet showing picture cards   and flash cards.
-          S/He asks the students to share what they have heard about the poet.
Note: Teacher monitors the discussion then finally concludes with some facts.
·         While-reading stage
a.      Pair work:
-          Fill in the blanks
                                                                                i.            Shakespeare wrote poem on………………..
                                                                              ii.            ………………..was his first published work.
b.      Reading game:
                                                   
-     The student from a group reads a paragraph and other students from other groups have to chose a topic for that paragraph from a number of topics given to them. They take the turns and play the game.
·         Post-reading stage
a.      Individual work:
-        Write a short description about Shakespeare.
Note: Teacher explicitly explains some ideas about Shakespeare.

Answer the following questions:
-          What kind of literary figure is Shakespeare?
-          Does he express feelings about life and love?
